Peppino Mangravite

Jackson Heights, New York

In 1940 Manravite's work was installed at the Jackson Heights Post Office on 37 Avenue the 6' by 15'. The mural entitled "Development of Jackson Heights”

A color sketch of this mural was given by Mangravite's daughter and her husband, Dr. and Mrs. Herbert Scheinberg, to the Burchfield Center along with nine paintings, eleven drawings and four lithographs in the 1980s. From July 19 to September 26, 1982 the gallery held an exhibit of Mangravite's works in which the sketch was included. It remains part of their collection and can be viewed on the gallery's site. This sketch was also part of the 1978 exhibit at The Art for the People - New Deal Murals on Long Island held at Emily Lowe Gallery at Hofstra University.
